Mr. Robert Alfred Dunn age 75 years, lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 2, 2004. Alf was employed by Kellogg's Dairy for 26 years before continuing his career with the Lakehead Board of Education where he retired in 1991 as Maintenance Supervisor. During his retirement, Alf enjoyed many vacations with family and friends. The most memorable vacation, a trip to Disney World in 1999 with Olive, his daughter Susan, his son David and their families. Alf was a hardworking individual who took great pleasure in helping others. He was truly happy when he was able to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. Most didn't even have to ask, he was there. His kindness and generosity was greatly appreciated by all. Alf was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years, helping maintain the church building and providing assistance where needed. Survived by daughter Susan (Larry) Nistico, grandchildren Breanne and Robert, son Dave (Tammy) Dunn and grandchildren Kristin, Kelsey and Kayley. Also surviving is sister Iris Lapointe, sister-in-law Jean Dunn, brother-in-law John (Doreen) Clark, sister-in-law Fran Clark and numerous nieces and nephews. He will especially be missed by lifelong friends Bob and Lorraine Jarvis and family along with special friend Phyl Robertson. Alf was predeceased by his beloved wife Olive, of 54 years, in January 2004, son Robert in 1972, parents Oliver and Amy, brothers Edwin and Chuck and his wife Elsie, sister Hilda, brothers-in-law Vic Clark and Dennis Lapointe. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 639 Grey Street, corner of Grey and Walsh Streets, with Rev. Mark McLennan officiating. Private interment to follow. Alf will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the Children's Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated.A tree will be planted in memory of Alf Dunn in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
