FALCIGNOMrs. Carmela Falcigno age 79 years of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully in hospital on Thursday, November 29, 2001.Born Carmela Loffredo in Piedimonte Caserta, Italy, she married Vincent Falcigno in 1939. Together for over 50 years they celebrated their life with 10 children. She followed her husband to Canada in 1954 where they settled in Thunder Bay. Though she missed her native country, she embraced Canada as her own. Her struggles were many and difficult but she lived her life with dignity and pride. Her profound belief in God helped her to instill strong moral values in her children and though steadfast in her ways she loved each of them deeply. She spent many happy days fishing with her husband and kept her home filled with the aroma of her homemade sauce. Her table, plentiful with savory vegetables from her garden was the site of endless stories of her youth and experiences through her life. With God's Will she lived to see her 10 children flourish and her family to grow with 34 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her legacy will undoubtedly live on in all of them. She is survived by her daughter Christina Paglia (Arnold) Laura, Tony, Carmelina, Maria, Lisa, Vince, Sandra, daughter Maria Paglia of Montreal (here), Laura, Pina, Lisa, son Pat (Phyllis) Steven, Tina, Vincent, daughter Mackey of Montreal (here), Andrew, Daniel, Larry, son Peter of Winlaw, B.C. , Peter, Rebecca, Rosemarie, daughter Dora Cameron of Alexandria (enroute), Lindsay, Ian, Ewart, Nellie, daughter Lisa Romanoff (Mark) of London, Stephanie, Katrina, Angela, Nickolas, daughter Annie Skavinski, (Ed), Stephanie, Jon, daughter Silvia Falcigno of Welland (here), Jennifer, Joseph, son Angelo (Lynette) Alexander, Daniel, brother Salvatore Loffredo (here) one brother and three sisters in Italy. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent in 1993, her granddaughter Claudia Paglia in 1992 and two daughters in infancy. Funeral services for the late Mrs. Carmela Falcigno will be held on Monday, December 3, 2001 leaving the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma at 1:00 PM to Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM celebrated by Father P.M.Stilla, V.F. Interment will be in St. Andrews Cemetery. Prayers will be offered on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 PM in the EVEREST CHAPEL. Visitation for friends will be on Sunday from 1:30 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
