It is with great sadness that the family of Lydia Ferguson announces her passing on Sunday July 15, 2012, in Thunder Bay. Lydia was born on December 6, 1926, in Cordenons, Italy to Davide and Emma DelZotto. The family moved to Fort Frances in 1930 where she attended St. Marys School and Fort Frances High School. Lydia was united in marriage to Clyde Ferguson on May 10, 1947. She worked at Wells Hardware as well as St. Marys Parish Credit Union and the District of Rainy River Social Services. She was also a very active member of St. Marys CWL. Lydia doted on her children as they grew and started their own families. She was thrilled to get to know her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They each held a special place in her heart. She leaves behind her daughter Emma Marie and husband Seppo Viherjoki of Thunder Bay; son David Ferguson and wife Jane of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and daughter Angela and husband John Kepes of Thunder Bay; grandchildren Jason (Christine) Ferguson, Stephen (Marjo) Viherjoki, Paul (Jennifer) Viherjoki, Lana Ferguson, Christopher (Jody) Ferguson and Mark Kepes (Angela Peters); great grandchildren Alexis and Aiden Ferguson, Curtis and Kaitlin Viherjoki, Josh and Destiny Mills and Evan Ferguson; sister Josephine Belluz of Fort Frances as well as several nieces and nephews. Her husband Clyde, parents Davide and Emma DelZotto, brother Luigi DelZotto, brother-in-law Cam Belluz and nephew Ricky Belluz predeceased Lydia. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Father Francis Pudicherry officiating. Internment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances, immediately after the funeral mass. The honourary pallbearers will be Tina Gurski, Kim Lepine, David DelZotto, Kristan DelZotto, Michael Belluz, Teresa Hampton and Helen Cordone. The active pallbearers will be Lana Ferguson, Jason Ferguson, Stephen Viherjoki, Paul Viherjoki, Christopher Ferguson, Mark Kepes and Robert Belluz. If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to St. Marys Church Building Fund or to the Charity of your choice.
