Foley, Furine

Furine Foley, age 85 years, of Ray Blvd passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 17, 2011.

Born in Port Arthur in 1925, Furine has lived in the city her entire life. After marrying James Foley, Furine devoted herself to raising her family. Later she took a position with Eaton’s in the Wool and Notions Department retiring in 1984. She enjoyed volunteering at the 55-Plus Centre in her spare time as well as knitting and playing Crib. However, her home and family were the most important things to her.

Furine was also a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church and the CWL.

Furine will be lovingly remembered by her children: Jimmy (Patricia), Kathy (Andy Bunn) Foley, Susan (John) Henderson, and Randy (June) Parlow; grandchildren: Christa (Dion) Ayotte, James (Gwen) Foley, Sherry Sandstrom, Sarah (Greg Berry) Morrison, Kaitlyn Morrison, Lisa (Matti) Tucker, John (Jodi) Parlow, and Michael Parlow; great grandchildren: Olivia Ayotte, James, Merrick and Taryn Foley, Josiah (Tiffany), Jesse and Jason Sandstrom, Payton and Matti Tucker, Seamus and Liam Parlow; great great grandchildren: Zephyr Sandstrom; sister Gloria “Ducky” Murphy and brother Bob (Rose Marie) Fero. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. She was predeceased by her husband Jim Foley in 2004; daughter Margaret-Anne Foley in 1981, Parents Fortunato and Emma Fero, siblings: Jim Fero, Helen Mauro, Emelia Fero, Amelia Powers, Mary Fero, Bill Fero, May Webber, Ray Fero, Joe Fero, Rita Greer and Lenora Edwards.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 20th, 2011 with friends gathering at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Road for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday (TONIGHT) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 8:00 p.m. at the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Furine’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, designated to the Northern Cancer Fund.
