GIUSEPPE FORESTAIt is with very heavy hearts and deep sentiments that the family of Giuseppe (Joe) Foresta, aged 64 years, of 120 Masters Street announce his peaceful passing from this earth to be with our heavenly Father. Giuseppe passed away with his loving family and friends by his side on Thursday, March 31,2005 at St. Joseph's Care Group - Hospice Unit. Giuseppe was born on May 22, 1940 in Grimaldi, Italy. He traveled to Canada by boat (La Saturnia) in September 1959 to be reunited with his fianc» Emilia Pucci in Port Arthur, Ontario. He landed in Nova Scotia, at Pier 21 with fellow immigrants where he would begin a new life at a tender young age in a new land many miles from his father and mother. Emilia and Giuseppe were married on February 20,1960 and were blessed to be able to share 45 wonderful years together. In simple words, he was a hard working man. He was an accomplished carpenter by trade. His strong hands constructed many a fine building and home during his working years with Headway Contracting, his construction partnership with brother-in-law Orlando - Foresta and Cocci Builders and finally working with United Grain Growers/Agricore United as a labourer until his retirement in May 2002 where he made many friends.Giuseppe lived his life by giving us simple but extraordinary gifts - his gentleness, kindness, contagious smile, dedication, loyalty, time without ever wanting in return, a multitude of talents, unending love, deep emotion, compassion, strength and warm heart. His roots were simple but he always worked hard to ensure his family had everything they needed. He was an ever caring man who always put others first. The most important things in his life were his family and friends and above all - ensuring their happiness. He enjoyed taking long walks, creating simple but bountiful vegetable gardens, his Sunday night barbeques with his family, putting his grandchildren on the school bus and anxiously awaiting them after school, and wonderful trips to Mexico with his wife. He took great pride in everything he did. He always strived for perfection to ensure the happiness of those who had the privilege of his fine craftsmanship. He was a well respected and deeply loved man with tremendous vitality, generosity, strength, deep devotion, wisdom to guide and give advice without controlling, compassion to listen without judging, faith, an abundance of love and simple humbleness. Giuseppe touched everyone's heart with his simple but very meaningful gestures of goodness. He made his home a place of harmony and love for all those who entered it.These past 9 months have been a journey indescribable to those who have never traveled it. A journey filled with a tremendous amount of hope where there is no cure. A journey where there is faith that this was a journey that was part of God's divine plan. During his journey, God gave us little windows with Giuseppe that we would embrace as precious gifts - golden days too hard to ever forget. These were days of small victories but deep sadnesses. He embraced his challenge with uneasiness and courage but was comforted by all the outpouring of love and support of a very devoted family, true friends and acquaintances who were always at his side. "Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them.In this sense, everything that comes from love is a miracle. "It is not what Giuseppe had that is or was important but who he is and always will be to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was truly a rare gift. His passing leaves a tremendous void to all of us. He is deeply mourned as he leaves behind his ever loving soul mate of 45 years, Emilia and his greatest joys - his daughter - Carmela Costanzo and son-in-law David Costanzo and ever precious grandchildren Courtenay and Adrian; his son - Claudio Foresta along with Karen and Ryan Britton; and, son - Danny Foresta and daughter-in-law Lori Foresta (who are expecting Giuseppe's 3rd grandchild). He is also survived and lovingly remembered by his sisters Vanda (Pasquale) Bossio , Esterina Mauro-Ferrari, Ada Fidalic of Thunder Bay; Maria (Mario) Fiume of Kirkfield, ON; Lidia Leronzetti, Ida (Marino) Perni of Italy; sister in law Emilia Foresta of Italy and brother in law Orazio Clemenza of Germany. Many nieces, nephews, godchildren, family, friends, and, in-laws will deeply miss him.He was predeceased by his parents Domenico and Carmela Foresta; his mother and father in law Nicola and Rosaria Pucci; sister Maria Clemenza; brothers Vincenzo (Ada) Foresta and Emilio Foresta; and, brothers in law Filippo Mauro, Rosario Ferrari, Aldo Fidalic and Leonardo Leronzetti.Funeral Services celebrating Giuseppe's life will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 leaving the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma at 9:50 A.M. to St, Anthony's R.C.
