Mrs. Mabel Fowler, of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Francis Fowler passed away on Monday, February 4th, 2002 at the age of 81 years.Mabel leaves to cherish her memory fifteen children, Frank (Merrilyn) Fowler of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Walter Fowler (Helen) of Terrace Bay, Ontario, David (Donna) Fowler of Aurora, Illinois, Scott (Georgie) Fowler of Batavia, Illinois, Fred (Sarah) Fowler of Toronto, Ernie (Linda) Fowler and Vivien Herman, both of Aurora, Illinois, Elizabeth (Phil Moy) Fowler of Itasca, Illinois, Dodi (Les) McKelvey of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Kevin (Sue) Fowler of Aurora, Illinois, Donald (Yvonne) Fowler of Edmonton, Alberta, John Fowler of Toronto, Anne Marie (Kim) Spang of Elburn, Illinois, Janet (Vern) Davenport of Somonac, Illinois, and Frances (Mark) Sharkey of South Bend, Indiana; two daughters-in-law, Jeanette Fowler of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Helen (Fred) Kollner of Prince George, British Columbia; thirty-six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one brother, Frank (Stella) Page of Windsor, Ontario; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Francis Fowler on April 20th, 1961; one son, Bob Fowler; her parents, Elkanah and Elizabeth Page; five brothers and one sister.Mabel was born on May 29th, 1920 in Liverpool, Nova Scotia where she was raised and educated.She married Francis Fowler on September 21st, 1942 in Nova Scotia and in 1946 they moved to Red Rock, Ontario.Following her husband's death in 1961, Mabel moved with fourteen of her children to Mooseheart, Illinois where she made her home for twenty-three years.In 1971, Mabel completed her B.A. at fifty-one years of age.Mabel was a member of the Home Chapter #0 Moose Lodge and was a Past Senior Regent of the Mooseheart Lodge.She served as secretary for the high school principal and later for the superintendant while at Mooseheart for twenty-three years.In 1984, Mabel moved to Winnipeg.She resided at the Morris Centre where she was employed as secretary.Mabel was very involved in Holistic Medicine completing many courses in this field.In 1999, she retired and moved to Medicine Hat.She was also a member of the C.W.L. for over forty years.She enjoyed painting, sketching, crocheting and knitting.Mabel was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who never forgot a birthday.Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, Nipigon, on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10th, 2002, at the ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, Nipigon.Prayers will be offered at the Funeral Home, Sunday, February 10th, 2002 at 7:00 p.m.The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in ST.
