Mr. Kennedy Gibson, aged 82 years, of Pinewood Court, Thunder Bay, passed away peacefullyon August 10th, 2005, of Parkinson's Disease. Born April 18, 1923, in County Down, Northern Ireland, Kennedy arrived in Fort Erie, Ont. , in 1924 with his parents, Thomas &Adeline (McIlwrath) Gibson, his 2 brothers Tom & Jack, and sister Isabel. Kennedy moved to Fort William in 1940 and was employedat Can-Car in various positions until his retirement. He loved the game ofgolf and was a life member of Fort William Country Club.In 1949, he married Mary Genik Gibson. Together they raised 2 children, Gordon & Colleen, enjoying camping, fishing & tobogganingover the years. Mary passed away in 1980. Ken married Alvena Boldt Gibson in 1983 & spent many good years travelling and enjoying each other's company before Alvena passed away in August of 1999. Throughout his life, Kennedy was a student of History and inventions, and was as meticulous about his person as he was about his work. He was seldom seen about town without a tie. "Gibbo" could fix just about anything and what he couldn't fix he could make. Once he evencompletely built acollapsible camping trailer in the basement, during the winter and then reassembled it outside in time for summer camping. Kennedy is survived by son, Gordon (Dara) Gibson of Nolalu, daughter Colleen (Ken) Johnson of New Zealand, Grandchildren Justin (Jen) Gibson and Rebecca Gibson, and Great-Grandchildren - Rebecca, Braedon, Tabitha, Lauren & Breanna, all of Hamilton. He is also survived by his brother Tom (Eileen) Gibson of Whiterock, B.C. & family, niece Judy (Rick) Hebert of Fort Erie & family, and devoted nephews Larry (Susan) Gibson & Jim (Jaynie Moore) Gibson of Thunder Bay & families. Kennedy was predeceased by his parents in Fort Erie,eldest brother Jack,and sister Isabel McNally.At Kennedy's request, cremation has taken place, and there is to be no religious service. Family, friends, and former co-workers are invited to drop in to celebrate Kennedy's life between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 15th, at the Scandia Room of the Valhalla Inn, and to share remembrances. A private family interment is to follow at a later date.A tree will be planted in memory of Kennedy Gibson in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
