Gibson, Robert Ruthven "Bob"
Mr. Robert Ruthven "Bob" Gibson, age 60 years, passed away peacefully with his family at his side in St. Joseph's Hospice on Friday, March 5, 2010. Bob was born in Fort William on April 20, 1949 to Ruthven "Bud" and Irene Gibson. He joined the Thunder Bay Fire Department on April 30, 1973 where he rose to the rank of District Chief, retiring on September 3, 2007 after 35 years of service. Bob was also a successful business man, developing many new properties in Thunder Bay. Bob's greatest love was for his family, especially his children and grandchildren who meant the world to him. He truly enjoyed every minute spent at his camp, which he built himself, at Arrow Lake. He is survived by his wife Lynda, sons Ryan (Jennifer), Greg (Nathalie Vachon) and Lee Gibson, grandchildren Liam, Ronan and Aedan Gibson, mother Irene Gibson, brother Walter (Monica), sisters Dianne and Valerie as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his daughter Brie Kathleen Gibson and father Bud Gibson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas Anglican Church with Archdeacon Andrew Hoskin presiding. Interment to follow in Mountainview Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street.
