1920 - 2005 Philip Maurice Gougeon died Saturday December 10th, 2005 at age 85, after a battle with cancer. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Ida; son Philip Jr. (Deb) of Edmonton, AB (here) and their daughters Amanda and Andrea; son Robert of Ottawa, ON. and brother Stan (June) of Ottawa, ON. Phil was born in Mattawa, ON. He served overseas with the Algonquin Regiment. He retired from Abitibi Provincial Mill in 1983. Phil was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Mary, Marguerite and Vera and two brothers, Art and Darrell. Phil's greatest joy was his family, whether it was the family fishing trips or watching his sons play countless hockey or baseball games. He was always there. In later years, his two granddaughters became his pride and joy. Although they lived in Edmonton, he followed their dance and softball exploits through videos and weekly phone calls. These phone calls always ended with a special good-bye "Au Revoir Grampa. We'll miss you. " Cremation has taken place and as per Phil's wishes there will be no services. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
