Grant, Calen

It is with great sadness that the family of Calen Grant announce his passing on Thursday, November 16, 2006, at the age of 25. Calen was born on June 18, 1981 and was most recently employed at Venasky-Pouru Electric as a journeyman electrician. Throughout his life, Calen was involved in many sports and always had a close connection with nature and the outdoors but second only to that of his friends and his family his greatest love and past time was music. Music, whether he was listening to it, playing it or writing it became the greatest source of his enjoyment and creativity especially if it involved a trip to Matt's camp for a good weekend jam session. Everything Calen did, he did well and was an exceptionally hard working and conscientious young man. He is remembered in our hearts as a kind and caring individual and a sincere caregiver with a tremendous sense of humour. Calen would never compromise his integrity by telling you what he thought you wanted to hear - he would rather tell you ‘this is how it is‘. Calen will be sadly missed by his beloved Robin Latimer, his mother Cheryl Grant (Robert Gordon), father John; brothers Ian and Mason, stepbrother Robby, stepsister Darby and grandmother Dorothy Halverson. Numerous aunts, uncles, ‘The Cousins‘ and a countless number of friends also survive. He is predeceased by his grandparents Willy and Ruth Grant, and Rune Halverson. Funeral services for the late Calen Grant will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 20, 2006 at First Church United, 201 Brock Street at Ford with Rev. Hugh Walker officiating. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shelter House would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel.
