Hardy, Jackson Alexander
Passed away at his home in Canadian Lake View Estates, Vernon, B.C. on Wednesday the 22nd, August 2005, with his wife Cathie, daughters Alix and Elspeth and Granddaughter Jacqueline by his side. He will be sadly missed by his family including his Grandsons Aaron Barnett, Donald and Benjamin Haid and his sons-in-law Iain Barnett and Harry Haid. Jack was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario November 1st, 1924. He was pre-deceased by his mother Martha (Gracer) who passed away in 1938. Jack was raised by his father Dufferin A. Hardy (Former Ft. William City Manager) and his three older brothers. During Jack's High School years he joined the Fort William Pipe Band as well as the Air Force Cadets. At this time he met his High School sweetheart, Catherine Mary Murray who later became his wife of 61 years. After graduation Jack took a position with Fort William Grain Elevators. He later moved to Winnipeg and worked for K. Powell & Sons at The Winnipeg Grain Exchange. Jack spent many years in Provincial Politics as MLA for St. Vital as well as being elected Mayor of St. Vital, Manitoba. After spending many years in public Service Jack & Cathy retired to the Okanagan where they enjoyed quality time with their Family and Friends.
