Mrs. Lois Ann Hopkins (Tonkin), age 72 years, a resident of Silver Springs Estate, has earned her wings. She flew up the stairs to heaven on October 20, 2002. Born March 18, 1930 in Fort William, she was a lifetime resident. Lois was a longtime employee at the Spence Clinic, retiring in 1987 due to ill health. She enjoyed camping at Max Lake and working on her computer.Lois is survived by her husband Mel; three daughters: Lynda (Russel) Waldon, Penny (Glen) Hurley and Wendy (Al) Zellweger; son Don all of Thunder Bay; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters: Margaret-Mary George and Judy Leschaeve and brother Bo Tonkin all of Thunder Bay. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Ethel; step-father George Corbett; and son Allen in 2001.According to Lois' wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 11:00 a. .m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Ivany. Interment will take place in the Family Plot, Sunset Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Lois' memory to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.
