Hunter, Rose

It is with great sorrow that the family of Rose Hunter announces her passing in her 84th year on August 4, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Rose was born in Cimpello, Udine, Italy and came to Canada as a young girl settling in Kirkland Lake. A year ago, Rose moved from North Bay to live with her daughter Sheila in Thunder Bay. Her friends will remember her for her skills as a fine chef, hostess and for her gifts of the best Christmas Cake ever. A noted gardener, even near the end, Rose selected plants for the annual garden at Sheila's home before she became ill. Rose is survived by her children: Linda (Michael Campbell), Richard, and Sheila Massi, six grandchildren: Timothy (Isabelle), Jeremy, and Jennifer Campbell, Ian (Heather), Derrick (Lisa), and Elizabeth Massi, one great grandchild: Gabriel Campbell and sister Narcisa (Louis) Casarsa. She also leaves behind three sisters-in-law: Edith (Rube) Yourt, Erna (Alec) Hunter, Merc (Don) Hunter and many nieces and nephews. Rose will also be greatly missed by many friends in Kirkland Lake, Elliot Lake and North Bay. Rose was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Richard (Dick) Hunter, an infant son and her parents, Agostino and Santa Manzon. In accordance with Rose's wishes, the family will gather later this summer to honour her memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore St. at James.
