John, George "Gregory"

George “Gregory” John of Marathon, passed away on May 25 2010 with his loving wife, Rejeanne by his side in Wilson Memorial Hospital at the age of 68 years. Greg was born in Nipigon on February 27 1942 to Martha (nee Wawia) and Albert John. At a young age, Greg moved to Ottawa where he met Rejeanne his wife of 47 years, . Rejeanne and Greg moved to Marathon where he became employed for 33 years as a welder for many different companies.. After retirement, Greg ran a small mobile welding company for 7 years. Besides his passion for welding, Greg was a large contributor to several local organizations including minor hockey and the Marathon curling club. He also loved shinning and driving his car and was a member of the Marathon Fire Department for 15 years. Greg will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rejeanne and his children; Sherry (Jim), Colleen (Mike), Allen (Stephanie) and Michelle (Mike) and his grandchildren. A Visitation will be held for Greg at Holy Saviour Roman Catholic Church in Marathon from 8:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday May 28 2010. A Resurrection Mass will begin at 1:30 pm. on Saturday May 29 2010 also at Holy Saviour's, with interment to follow in Marathon Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the King Funeral Home Ltd. in Schreiber. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Marathon Chapter of the Cancer Society or the Sonny MacDonald Palliative Care Fund at Wilson Memorial Hospital would be appreciated.
