John, W. Dennis
Mr. W. Dennis John, 53 years, of Schreiber, Ontario, formerly of Nipigon, Ontario passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in McCausland Hospital, Terrace Bay, Ontario after a courageous battle with cancer. Dennis retired as a Staff Sargeant with the Ontario Provincial Police after thirty-one years of service. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Schreiber and Sault Ste. Marie. Dennis was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He also served on council for Lake Helen First Nation and put in numerous volunteer hours. He enjoyed music and loved playing guitar Predeceased by his father C.W. (Willy) John; he is survived by his mother Frances John of Lake Helen, by five children - Lorrie John (& Smiley) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Robert (& Lindsey) John, Heather, Paul and Daniel John all of Elk Lake, Ontario, by three siblings - Alwyn (& Marge) John of Schreiber, Ontario, Charles (& Geraldine) John and Florence (& Charles) Thompson both of Lake Helen. Numerous other relatives also survive. Resting at the home of his sister Florence, 155 Central Avenue, Lake Helen where friends may call after 6 P.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2006. Prayers will be offered at the house on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 7 P.M. Funeral services, in the care of Elliott Funeral Home Ltd. , Nipigon will be held on Monday, August 21, 2006 at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Annunciation with Father M. McWatch officiating. Cremation will follow with interment of cremains in St. Sylvester's Church Cemetery, Lake Helen. Friends so wishing may make donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.
