Johnson, Laila

LAILA JOHNSON age 96, passed away peacefully at Hogarth Riverview Manor on December 16th, 2010. Laila was born on August 15th, 1914 to Jacob and Hilma Johnson and was raised on the family farm in Gorham Township along with her siblings. She later moved to Port Arthur where she was employed at Port Arthur General Hospital for a number of years, retiring in 1978.

Laila’s passions were spending time with her family, attending church and especially the outdoors, where she spent many happy days on frequent camping and fishing trips with her family.

Laila is survived by son Arnold (Arnie) Woods and wife Loretta, grandson, Brad Woods (Kirsi), sisters, Vieno Johnson and Aili Maki, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Hilma Johnson, sisters Toini, Elma, Aune and Ethel and brother Toivo.

Cremation has taken place and a gathering in Laila’s memory was held for family and friends on December 21, 2010.

There comes a time in each one of our lives when we have to say goodbye to our loved ones. It's one of the most heart wrenching moments we will ever have to endure.

The love, support and sympathy that we received from friends and family are what helped us get through.
