Reta (Rae) Johnson, age 82 years, passed away peacefully at Pioneer Ridge Home for the Aged, with family by her side. Reunited with Edgar Olaf Johnson, her loving husband of 42 years.
Reta was born and raised in Grandview, MB., moving to Armstrong, ON. in 1949. Reta worked for the CNR Beanery, Hudson Bay Company, Probation and Parole, and together with her husband, owned T & D Johnsons Corner Store where her love of baking was enjoyed by many.
She was an active member of the community on so many levels, volunteering with the Lions Club, teaching Boy Scouts, fundraising and so much more. Reta always found time to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, curling, cooking, and having tea with Ricky. Her time with family and great grandchildren was always cherished.
Reta is survived by her sons: Tom Johnson & Terry Helps; grandchildren: Tom Johnson, Denise (Rob) Miller, and Benjamin Laird; great grandchildren: Thomas Jason Johnson, Destiny Rae & Tanner Eddie James Miller; and her sister Betty McMannis. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Rae was predeceased by her husband Eddie Poppy; her parents Mary & William Evans; brothers: Gerald (Laura), Kenneth (Phyllis), Bill (Ina), and Bert Evans; brother- in-law Ron McMannis, all of Grandview, MB.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, October 28th, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Auditorium, 3rd Floor at Pioneer Ridge, 750 Tungsten St., Thunder Bay. A Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30th, 2010 in Armstrong at the Lions Club, officiated by Pastor Jack Earls.
