Johnston, John Dennis

Oct. 28th, 1944 - May 24th, 2008 Mr. John Dennis Johnston, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, May 24th, 2008. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany. While there he enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with the Boxing and Judo teams and won several awards. After leaving the Air Force he lived out west and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Where ever he ended up, John always joined the Pipe and Drum Bands as a drummer. While living in Whitehorse he did some guide jobs leading tourists through the area. He returned home seven years ago to be with his family and friends. John was employed by Apex Securities and his favorite position was working at the hospital and loved being with all of his friends. He was predeceased by his father Arthur Johnston. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Dorothy (Johnston) Bannish, three sisters; Betty Ann McNally, Sarah Kivisto (David), Laurie (Asimi) Santos (Carlos) and their families. He is also survived by many cousins and other family members. A memorial celebration of John's life will be held in the chapel of Jenkens Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Bert Vancook officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of the service. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery will follow the reception at the Moose Hall on May Street.
