It is with great sadness that the family of William (Billy) Johnston, of Nipigon, Ontario announce his passing on Friday, August 24th, 2007. Bill was born in Theassalon, Ontario in 1944. He grew up in Nipigon, Ontario. He was a longtime employee of Norampac, Red Rock, Ontario retiring in 2002. Bill was a past member of the Nipigon Elk's & the Nipigon Volunteer Fire department. Bill enjoyed spending his summers at Polly Lake and winters in Texas. Bill leaves behind his wife Faye (nee; MacDonald), his three children Tracy Johnston (Donny Dumonski) Hurkett, Ontario, Jennifer Strilchuk (Kirk) Thunder Bay, Ontario and David Johnston (Deana Renaud) of Nipigon, Ontario, five grandchildren Ryan, Shawn, Dayna, Meghan and Evan, also his constant shadows Chance and Willow. He is also survived by his brothers; Dalton (Germaine), Nipigon, Ontario, Greg (Christine), North Bay, Ontario and his sister Phyllis Chayer (Rene) of North Bay, Ontario, by his sisters-in-law Dena Douglas (Phil), Nipigon, Ontario, Ann Dobson, Edmonton, Alberta; by his brothrers-in-law Bill MacDonald (Cathy Wallin) Terrace Bay, Ontario, Gord MacDonald (Lynn), Thunder Bay, Ontario, also by numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents; Elmer and Vi Johnston. Bill will be greatly missed by all, especially his lifelong friend Albert Brennen, and all of his buddies at Polly Lake. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the Grace United Church, Nipigon, Ontario at 11 A.M. with Pastor Roberta Beyer R-DLM officiating. Interment of cremains will be held at a later date. Friends so wishing may make donations to the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital.
