KING, VIOLET CATHERINE (NORDIEN) It is with great sadness that the family of Violet Catherine King (nee Nordien) announce her peaceful passing on November 29th, 2008. Vi was born, in a taxicab on the way to the hospital, on December 14th, 1929, to Clara Bystrom and Mauritz Nordien, Vi grew up in Toronto where she met and married her neighbour, friend, then love of her life, William G. King. Vi and Bill settled in Kirkland Lake in 1962 where they raised their children Donna, David and Derek. Bill predeceased her far too soon in June 1980. She relocated to Thunder Bay after her retirement in 1991, to be closer to her sons and their families. Mom was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Wilbert and Robert Nordien, and her sister Myrtle Chisholm. She leaves to mourn her children Donna (Ray) Roussy, Surrey BC (presently here), David (Celeste) and Derek (Barb), her grandchildren Christopher (Cyndi) Roussy, Sarah, Liam, Hayley and Shannon King, Colin and Starla (Jordan Lytwenko) King, great-grandchildren Alyssa and Brittney Roussy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada and the United States. Special thanks to the gang on A1 at the Regional, whose care and compassion for Vi was admirable. Thanks also to the ICU team, whose professionalism, calm, and patience with us during the many crises over the years was unflagging. To Dr. Malik, we will never forget your support and compassion for Vi over the years. Your sensitivity to her needs and your patience answering all of her questions directly and honestly made this journey easier. Thank you. As per Nan's wishes, cremation has taken place.
