Mr. John Thomas Kirchen, age 95 years, passed away on Saturday, November 8th, 2003 at Pinewood Court.Mr. Kirchen, formerly of Dan McIvor Court was born in Vermillion Bay, ON. on October 17th, 1908.He worked for the C.P.R. for 47 1/2 years on the Bridge and Building Gang.He served in the Princess Patricia Light Infantry during the Second World War. Mr. Kirchen was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Slovak Branch #129. He enjoyed bowling at Superior Bowl for many years until he had to quit. He also liked playing the lotto tickets and scratch tickets.Mr. Kirchen is survived by three sons; John and Richard of Thunder Bay and James of Wyoming, U.S.A, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives in Manitoba and Thunder Bay.His parents, four brothers, and five sisters, son Randolph (six months) and his wife Clara (February 1983) predeceased him.A funeral service for Mr. Kirchen will be held in the chapel of Jenkens Funeral Home on Thursday, November 13th, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Bernard Campbell officiating followed by a Legion Tribute under the auspices of Branch 129. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery to follow.Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 7-9 P.M.The family would appreciate memorial donations to the Slovak Legion Bursary Fund.On-line Condolences atwww.jenkens-funeral.ca
