Mary "Minnie" Klages January 5th 1912- May 29th 2004Mary Klages aged 92 years, passed away peacefully at Versa Care.Born in Hanover, Germany, she was the daughter of Gottlieb and Augusta Klages. Raised in Slate River, she attended the local school and Toronto Bible College.She was employed as a cook by various Great Lakes shipping companies for many years and thoroughly enjoyed telling stories of her adventures.Since retirement and until recently she enjoyed bingo, shopping, handwork and continued her gadget collecting.She was a staunch supporter of her church and a member of the Moose Lodge.For many years she walked daily from her Rankin street home to the Herb Carroll Centre for her lunch and friendship, eventually making her home at the Lincoln Centre.Predeceased by her parents and siblings Henry, Charlie, Bobby, Felix and Eric.Minnie is survived by her sister Lena Adam (Port McNicol) and brother George (Laura), Thunder Bay and by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she was very proud. She was especially close to Greg, Gary, Brenda and Beverly. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 1st, 2004 at 10:00 am at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Edward Street with burial to follow at Moose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church if friends so desire.
