Jeannine Korhonen, age 81 years, resident of Geraldton, passed away peacefully on March 22nd, 2011. Born on March 25th, 1929 in Notre-Dame-Du-Lac, Quebec. She was employed as a cook and waitress at various locations in both Geraldton and Thunder Bay. Jeannine loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband Mauno. She was a member of the Geraldton Pioneer Club.
Jeannine is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Mauno, her sons Marcel Leclerc and Andre Leclerc, daughter Linda Leclerc, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, sister Muriel Durand (Cabano, QC), brother Lionel Durand (Montreal, QC), brother Gerard Durand (Joliette, QC), sister Louise Durand (Rowdon, QC), sisters-in-law Lucie Bonin (St.-Felix De Valois, QC), Lisette Boucher (St.-Felix De Valois, QC) and Monique Durand (Montreal, QC), and brother-in-law Blondin Moneau (Cabano, QC). Also 3 sisters-in-law Maila Anderson (Oliver, BC), Maira Moose (Clarence) (Eckville, AB), Maija Korhonen (Edmonton, AB), brother-in-law Erik Korhonen (Whitecourt, AB), as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 at 5pm at St. Josephs Heritage - Georgina Room.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
