Lange, Omar
Omar Vitus Johan Hobzendorff Lange, aged 90 years passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2000 at Bethammi Nursing Home. Omar was born April 11th, 1910 in Horsens Ringkjobing, Denmark, he immigrated to Canada in May of 1927 at the age of 17. He married the former Hilja Marie Maki on July 17th, 1930 in Fort William, Ontario. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Hilja, four sons: Arthur (Anita) of Nipigon, Richard (Dorene) of Thunder Bay, Gary (Le Ann) of Nipigon, and Donald (Lynn) of Campbellville, Ont. Nine grandchildren: Kathy, Karen, Keith, Wendy, Diana, Jessica, Sarah, Jordan and Brendan. Seven great grandchildren: Kellie, Krysta, Kory, Annaliis, Stefan, Amilia and Storm. One great-great grandchild: Liam and one brother Cedric in Denmark. Omar worked at Canada Car during WWII. He moved to Nipigon with his family and worked for the paper mill in Red Rock until his retirement in 1974. His main interests were his family, his garden and the camp at Polly Lake. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in the family plot in the Nipigon Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 13th, 2000 in the St. Joseph's Heritage Chapel - 63 Carrie St - commencing at 2:30 pm, with a reception to follow in the Manor Room. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethammi Nursing Home or the charity of our choice.
