1924 - 2005Ray passed away at home on Wednesday, August 17th, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 30th, 1924 in Port Arthur where he grew up and was educated. Ray served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. After the war he worked at Saskatchewan Pool 4 and was a survivor of the elevator explosion of August 7th, 1945. He also worked with the CNR as a fireman, on the Port Arthur Police Force from 1953 - 1956, and then at the Keefer Terminal as a Maintenance Foreman until his retirement in 1984. Ray wintered in Texas with his loving wife Pat for 11 years. His family was his main interest and he enjoyed fishing and camping, especially with his grandsons. Ray is survived by his best friend and soul mate Pat; loving daughter Brenda (Peter) Bound; son Rick (Terri); grandsons Lance and Jake; his constant companion "Bailey"; brother Jack (Eleanor); cousin Ray (Doreen) Herckman as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and good friends. Cremation has taken place and as per Ray's wishes, no service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
