Littleford, Joyce
Joyce Diane Littleford (Bruce) Apr. , 1943 - Feb. 13, 2010 It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our beloved Joyce, after a short battle with cancer. Joyce was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she became a talented hairdresser and later, the wonderful mother of three children. In the 90's, Joyce moved to Thunder Bay, specifically to the Westfort area to be closer to her daughter and her grandchildren. Joyce became a "true blue Westfort girl" and it was here that she met the love of her life, Red Littleford. This twosome did everything together and had 12 amazing years of joy. One thing Joyce held close to her heart, were the short jaunts to St. Urho's Golf Course on Sundays, with longtime friends Kenny and Karynne. While the men golfed, the girls would ride along in the golf cart, laughing hysterically at their partners "miss"-adventures! Joyce also loved to play crib and Uno. . . and when it came to Bingo, she had "the fastest dabber in town". She would finish marking all of her 20 or so cards , then check everyone else's beside her, for missed numbers, which she often found. Joyce will be sadly missed by all her wonderful cohorts at Riley's, Tackney's, the Westfort and of course, "The Meat Draw" group, Tuesday nights at the Westfort Prosvita! Joyce's infectious laugh will ring in all our hearts forever! Joyce is survived by her loving husband Red, sons Michael and Marty, daughter Marcia and their father Amie, brother Roy (Carmelle), sisters-in-law Reita (Mike), Joan, brother-in-law Bob (Cathy), step-sons Jim (Donna) , Bob, Ron, and Jack, step-daughter Lindy (Tim), granddaughters Rochelle, Amanda, Samantha, and Michaela, grandson Devon. Step-grandsons Tyler, Hunter and Jase, and great granddsons Austin and Brayden, and will be lovingly missed by the furry companions in her life - Rudy, Moxie, Reita and Korki. Nieces and nephews also survive. Predeceased by her mother Emma and father Anthony. We would also like to express our gratitude to passionate and caring doctors and nurses, both at the TBRHSC and St. Joe's Palliative and Hospice Wards. As per Joyce's wishes, we welcome everyone (even "Non Westfortites"!) to a celebration of Joyce's life, Saturday, February 20th at Riley's Tavern, 137 Frederica Street, starting at 2p.m. . In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. On line condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com
