The family of Janet Marcella Maidment, sadly announces her passing on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 with family at her side. Janet was born on June 5, 1952 in Fort William. In her younger years, she loved to dance and sing, cook, swim and ride her bike. Janet was always a kind, loving and gentle person who loved to laugh. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of strength, courage and support of one another in facing life's challenges. Janet will be remembered for her true inspiration, touching everyone she encountered. Janet will be lovingly remembered by her children: Michael (Margot) Maidment, Candace Maidment, Jay (Chantell) Maidment, and by her grandchildren: Trystyn Gavin, Brandon and Noah Maidment; mother Rose; sisters: Marian (Norm) Campbell, Diane (Ron) Schopp, and Marcella Sandrin; brothers: John, Peter and Michael (Karen); uncle Joe, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Albert. Following cremation, Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Msgr. P. M. Stilla, V. G. , of St. Patrick's Cathedral. As expressions of sympathy, donations made in Janet's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Thunder Bay Chapter, would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the ICU and Emergency Room staff at TBRHSC for their care, compassion and assistance as well as all the homemakers who have cared for Janet over the years. To my brave and wonderful niece, Janet, may the Peace of Christ be with you. May your courage endure and show us the true meaning of patience and humility in the face of great adversity.
