Maijala, Rauha Ingrid
MAIJALAIt is with great sorrow the family of Rauha Ingrid Maijala of 201 Ravenwood Avenue announce her death on February 19, 2001 at McKellar Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Fort William on May 9, 1915 but lived most of her life in Nolalu. After her husband George Maijala passed away in 1971, Ingrid moved to Thunder Bay. She loved the outdoors, gardening, swimming, travelling and spending winter holidays in Cuba and Mexico. Left behind to mourn are daughter: Verna Ross (Don); daughter-in-law: Tina Maijala; grandchildren: Clark Ross (Laurie), Cheryl Armstrong (Gary), Donna Ross of Vancouver, Grant Maijala (Bettina), Kent Maijala (Tamie), Nancy Paquette (Brian); 7 great-grandchildren; sister: Gertie Bangert (Bill) of Paris, Texas; nieces: Sheila Daughtrey, Paris and Ellen Wethington of Houston, Texas. Predeceased by her husband George in 1971 and son Oliver in 1996. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at Stanley Hill Cemetery on Friday, February 23, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jef Koenig officiating. If friends so desire memorial donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 W. Gore Street. A donation has been made to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation in honour of Mrs. Rauha Ingrid Maijala byEverest of Thunder Bay.
