Florence Irene Maki, age 69, of P.R. Cook apartments (formerly of 378 Leslie Ave) passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospice on Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Florence was born January 26, 1938 in Port Arthur to John and Eleanor Arvelin. She met and married Ken Maki, and they just celebrated 51 years of marriage on May 4. They made their home in Current River where they raised their three children. Florence's main interests were her home, children, and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Ken, her children Karen Maki, Ken (Kirsten) Maki and Krista Maki, three granddaughters, Annika, Heidi and Jaime. She is also survived by sisters Shirley (Gerald) Gibson, Ruth (Bill) Hill and Dorothy Hansen and brother Bobby Arvelin; brother-in-law Clarence (Ann) Maki; sisters-in-law Marie Arvelin, Florence Card, Janet Maki, and Dorothy Maki. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. She was predeceased by her brothers Leonard Arvelin and Alec Arvelin. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service for the late Florence Maki will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Canon John Jordan. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Flo's memory to the charity of your choice.
