Maki, Lucia, (Lucy)

We are sorry to announce the passing of Lucia, (Lucy), Maki (nee Mauro), on the 29th day of February, 2012 at the age of 92. Lucy passed away at the Pine Grove nursing home in Kamloops British Columbia. Lucy was born in Port Arthur Ontario, October 12 1919, to Arturo Mauro and Marietta Mauro.

She met her husband Walter Maki at the Canada Car and Foundry and they were married in 1941. They lived most of their lives in Fort William before moving to Eureka California where they spent 24 happy years together. They returned to Canada to be near family in Kamloops British Columbia, after Walter had retired. Lucy was known for her great cooking and her ceramics, both of which she excelled at. Walter and Lucy raised 5 children in Fort William and always, fondly remembered their wonderful home and property in South Neebing.

She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (Glen) Saari sons Lawrence (Joanne), William (Deborah) and David Maki. She is also survived by her grandchildren Larry (Yukino) Maki, Scott Maki, Christopher (Elizabeth) Maki and Carolyn (Jim) McTighe. Seven great-grandchildren, William, Olivia, Benjamin and Emily McTighe, Max and Kio Maki and Gabriella Maki. She is survived by her sisters Anne Pratz and Dr. Gloria Mauro. One brother Arthur Mauro and numerous cousins nieces and nephews also survive.

Lucy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter, her daughter Marylu Maki, her granddaughter Jessica Maki, 2 brothers Angelo and Joseph Mauro.

A private service will be held for Lucy Maki and internment will be with her beloved husband at Hillside Cemetery, Kamloops, British Columbia.
