Marak, Anne
Miss. Anne Marak, age 91 years, passed away peacefully at Grandview Lodge on Monday, November 17, 2008. Anne was born at home on Rowand Street, November 28, 1916 and later on moved to the family home that her dad built on West Frederica Street and lived there until moving to Spence Court where she lived out her retirement years. She moved into Grandview Lodge two years ago. Anne attended Crawford Street School, Selkirk and then university in Southern Ontario. She worked in the office at Can Car during the Second World War and later ran the office for Emil Anderson Construction until ill health forced her to retire. She will be remembered by her cousins; Ross Mandryk of San Diego, Nancy Goodman of Kelowna, and Olga Godeski of B.C. ; her son Michael Sr. (Linda) and their daughter Laura, their son Michael Jr. (Jeanine) and their daughter Casey, cousins in-law Marie and Dove and numerous relatives in the Ukraine and Poland. Anne's memory will also be deeply cherished by her extended family Linda Harmer (Kelly), Jeremy, Ted (Sandra) and Tammy Thompson and their children. Her parents Michael and Pearl Marak and her special friend Andy Stepenchenko predeceased her. A celebration of Anne's life will be held in the chapel of Jenkens Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 21, 2008 followed by a luncheon in Jenkens Reception Centre. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery to follow. Friends are welcomed to pay their respects from 10:30 A.M. until service time or later at the luncheon. Memorial donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, Thunder Bay Shelter House or the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital would be appreciated.
