Mr. Ronald Mauro, age 71 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in TBRH McKellar site on Friday, October 19, 2001. Ron started working as a paper boy at the age of 10. As a youngster, he supplemented his paper route money in creative ways, such as fish escapades at marina dock and shooting pool for some extra cash. Later in life, his career in the food industry brought him to many places, such as; the Casino, Boulevard Lake, Porky's, Fero's Restaurant, The Teacher's College cafeteria, Fort William Ski Club, CLE stock car races, the Annual fair, and other exhibitions. Marrons Restaurant, Riverview Raceways, Murillo Fall Fair, Thunder Bay Airport, Great Lakes Paper Mill Cafeteria, Big Thunder, St Patrick's High School, Mount Baldy, City of Thunder Bay Concessions.RM Catering Ltd. , was incorporated in 1978, and Ron served the public of Thunder Bay in numerous weddings, banquets, and special occasions over the past 40 years. Ron was involved in the community in many ways, he served on the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority for many years, and was a dedicated active member of the Westfort Kiwanis. The Hymers Fall Fair was an extension of his expertise and he gave generously of his time, equipment and knowledge. He was also a member of the Fort William Jaycees, for a great number of years. He was a member of the Columbia Grill Coffee Club, whose members were always trying so hard not to pay for the coffee. He was a Thunder Bay snooker champion more than once, and anyone who ever had the opportunity to play the game with Ron will recall his brilliance. Rudy is now the proud owner of his cue. Along with his love of pool Ron enjoyed a good card game. Ron and Helen enjoyed their winters over the past 12 yearsin Mesa Arizona, Ron was also involved there in the community, with billiards, cards, and catering. He enjoyed his family, and the crowded get-togethers, with his many sons, daughters, and grandchildren. He spent many hours with his brothers, cousins, and uncles playing pool.Ron is survived by his wife Helen Anne, they would be celebrating 50 years of marriage this coming February 23rd; daughter Maureen, Eddie Mlynarski, and her sons, Jesse and Matthew Morriseau; son David, wife Bev, daughters Julie, Megan, Michelle; son Ronnie, wife Anna and their children son Jade, daughter Jazmine; daughter Mary Ellen, Andy Tougas, and their children Sara, Danielle, Robbie, Andrea; son Richard, wife Gail, their children Travis, Taylor Rene Daisy; daughter Pamela; daughter Rochelle, Bob Ferguson; son Robert, wife Rebecca. Brothers James, wife Doreen; Rudy, wife Joyce; Frank, wife Lois; Ralph, wife Shirley. Uncle Bob Fero, wife Rosemarie, Aunty Furine and Jim Foley, Aunty Gloria and Gordon Murphy. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews survive, as well.He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Helen Mauro, brother Alfred ( Pepsi) Mauro, and infant daughter Marina Ann. Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2001, when friends and family will gather for Mass of the Resurrection at 12:10 pm at ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL celebrated by Rev. David Gillen. Prayers will be offered on Monday, October 22, 2001 at 7:00 pm at ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL. If friends desire memorials to the Canadian Diabetic Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
