Mccormick, Rita Mary

It is with great sorrow the family would like to announce the passing of Mrs. Rita Mary McCormick, age 79 years, resident of Thunder Bay, in TBRHSC on Wednesday June 21, 2006. Rita was born in Fort William to Laura and Joe Otway and spent her entire life in Westfort. Rita was a homemaker and enjoyed her camp at Oliver Lake, with her children. She also enjoyed bingo and was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan. Rita was loved by all of the children who knew her while she was a crossing guard at St. Martin's School. Rita was a devout Catholic and was a longtime member of St. Agnes' Church and Catholic Women's League. She survived by her three children Murray, Scott and Jane (Peter Delski), three grandchildren Dianna (Guy Chretien), Sean Delski and Samantha McCormick, two great grandchildren Chantelle and Shane Chretien. Rita is also survived by several nieces and nephews and special nephew John McCormick. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John "Scotty", brothers Joe, Clarence "Bud", Bill, Harold, Martin Otway and sister Monica Burkowsky. Funeral services will be held on Monday June 26, 2006 when friends and family will gather for Funeral Mass at 12:10 p.m. in St. Agnes' Church celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. with Vigil prayers to be offered on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. If friends desire memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Rita McCormick in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 24, 2007.
