Mr. Daniel Thomas McDonald, age 93 years, a resident of Ambrose Street, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2004. Dan was born in Winnipeg, MB but spent most of his years in Thunder Bay. He worked for a number of years as Manager of Thunder Bay Lumber. He was past President of the Fuel Dealers Association. Dan served in World War II with the Lake Superior Scotish Regiment (Motor), and is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 5. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, hunting and gardening. Dan became an avid fan of horseracing at an early age, and was proud to say he had never missed a year of watching The Kentucky Derby or The Preakness. Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 60 years Agnes (nee Lind), sons Tom (Pat) and Dan (Val), grandchildren: Tammy, Tommy, and Danna.Dan's family would like to thank Drs. Mahler, Probizanski and MacGregor, the nursing staff at TBRHSC emergency and 3B, Meals on Wheels, and Darlene from ComCare. We also greatly appreciate the kindness shown by Dan's neighbors, Mark and Loretta, and Karen and Craig. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street with Archdeacon Mark S. Conliffe officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 5 will hold their service of tribute in conjunction with the service. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday (this evening), October 12, 2004 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N.
