Charles K. McNally, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2008 in St. Joseph's Palliative Care. Charlie was born in Fort William on March 31, 1925 to Elizabeth (Hill) and C. Herbert McNally. His residence always was the family farm near Murillo. Charlie is survived by his wife Gina and sons K.C. (Debbie) and Paul (Joy); grandchildren Brian, Tyler, Cassidy, Jeffery, Katelynne, Christian and Kimberly. Among many other relatives, he is also survived by a brother Frank (Wanda) from Atikokan and a sister Evelyn of Glendon, Alberta. He told of going to school in the winters with the help of a dog team and sleigh. Although he held several positions, he was always a farmer at heart. He operated a dairy farm with his parents until the early 60's. In 1963 he married Gina and soon was employed by Superior Propane. Then he was a weekend farmer with a small beef herd. Later he was employed by LU Security until his retirement in 1990. Until the early 60's he was active on the Murillo Fair Board and the Murillo Minor Athletic Association. As a young man he enjoyed playing ball on the Murillo team. For a time, he was one of the last two survivors of the team. Charlie was elected to Oliver Municipal Council and enjoyed serving from 1957 - 65. He also served on the Stanley Hill Cemetery Board for 36 years until his illness in 2007. Charlie's longest church affiliation was with the United Church of Canada and he loved the old hymns. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment is planned. A celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Jenkens Funeral Home.
