Nishimura, Joan

Joan Louise (Virtue) (Ryding) Nishimura, age 69 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital-McKellar Site. Joan was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on September 2, 1933. Joan was a lifetime resident of Thunder Bay. She was employed with Community and Social Services until her retirement, as well as Steep Rock Mines in Atikokan and MTO in Kenora. Joan was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi (Laureate Beta Alpha). For many years Joan was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed winters in Florida and Texas, where she recently took up golf. She was a member of Mended Hearts and very active in her grandchildren's lives.A loving Wife, Mother and Nana. She will be sadly missed by her husband Sam of 21 years, children Nancy, Catherine, and Barbara, grandchildren Thomas, Erik, Jackson, and Autumn, sister Bonnie Renner, brother Barry Virtue, nieces Carol Renner, Lori and Kelly Virtue, nephews Brent Renner, Micheal and Cory Virtue. Funeral services for the late Mrs. Joan Nishimura will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Ridgeway Street with Rev. Paul Carr officiating.
