Mr. Ivan Novak age 86 years of Thunder Bay passed away in hospital early Sunday morning, January 27, 2002.Ivan was born August 26, 1915 in Knezak, Slovenia and he came to Canada in 1951, settling in Port Arthur. He was employed in area bush camps and later worked at Manitoba Wheat Pool Elevators until his retirement in 1980.In 1958 he married Boza (Brkic) and together they raised two daughters Vera and Joyce. He was an active participant of the Slovenian Cultural Society.He was affectionally known as "Dido" by his 4 grandchildren. His determination and zest for life never failed, and his wisdom, guidance and humor was appreciated by all. Ivan is survived by his wife Boza. Two daughters; Joyce Pedri and husband Attilio, Vera Simcich. Grandchildren; Doris Simcich, Paul Simcich, Laura Pedri, Michael Pedri. Brothers; Cvete Novak, Ptuj, Slovenia, Louise Novak, Ilirska Bistrica, Slovenia, Frank Novak, Melbourne, Australia. Sister Maria Volcic, Melbourne, Australia. Numerous nieces and nephews in Slovenia and Australia. Predeceased by mother Josphina Novak (Slavec) father Janes Novak, two brothers, Tony and Slave Novak.Funeral services for the late Mr. Ivan Novak will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 leaving the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma at 9:40 a.m. to St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church for Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Scott Gale. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. in the Everest Chapel with prayers beginning at 6:30 p.m.Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.A donation has been made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in honour of Mr. Ivan Novak by Everest of Thunder Bay.Please sign the onlinecondolences ateverestofthunderbay.com
