Paakkunainen, Sinikka

Mrs. Sinikka Anja Paakkunainen, age 77 years, of Academy Dr. , passed away at her residence on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Born in Teuva, Finland, Sinikka came to Canada and Nipigon in 1958, then moving to Thunder Bay in 1978. Her home and family were her main interests. She enjoyed her garden and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sinikka is survived by her husband Sulho; two sons: John of Nipigon and Jarmo (Rita) of Thunder Bay; daughter Tuula of Thunder Bay; six grandchildren: John and Kelly, Jeff, Joel and Justin, and also Tyler Yantz; four great grandchildren: Hillary, Cody, Angelina, and Chaz; and one sister, Lahja Uusitalo in Finland. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Elviira Yli-Hakkala; and three brothers: Tapio, Eelis, and Seppo. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19th, 2007 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Jari Lahtinen of Hilldale Lutheran Church. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Sinikka's memory to ALS Society of Ontario.
