Catherine Duff Podd age 96 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the St. Joseph's Hospice. Catherine was born in Motherwell, Scotland and immigrated to Canada as a young girl in 1927. After completing her schooling she married Alfred William Podd in 1937 & together they raised three children. The family became members of St. Paul's United Church and Catherine remained so until her passing. She was most proud of her "Life Membership from St. Paul's UCW and past Presidency", as well as her many years of volunteer service. Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her son James (Elaine) Podd, 7 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren, 3 great/ great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Predeceased by husband Alfred "Sonny", son Ian, daughter Vicky, sisters Mae (Bill) Smith, & Gretta (Rocky) Gibson, brother David Adamson, parents James & Marion Adamson. According to Catherine's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, officiated by Rev. Hugh MacDonald. Private interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made in Catherine's memory to St. Joseph's Foundation-Hospice Unit or a charity of choice.
