Mrs. Stanislawa Polec passed away peacefully at Grandview Lodge Home for the Aged on Friday, March 5, 2004 in her 100th year. Stanislawa was born in Nieklan, Poland on May 8, 1904. She came to Port Arthur in 1950 to rejoin her husband Walter, who came in 1949. She was a member of St. Mary's Our Lady Queen of Poland Roman Catholic Church and the Polish Alliance of Canada. Stanislawa was physically strong as well as strong willed. She loved her garden and sharing meals with family and friends. She worked at the Port Arthur General Hospital in the kitchen, setting tables and food preparation. Stanislawa is survived by her son Edward (Lynne) and daughter Irene Blake (Walter) of Vancouver, B.C. ; daughter-in-law Colette; 8 grandchildren: David (Teresa), Jody, Steven (Joanne), Michelle (Jamie), Edward (Shelley), Gary, Sean and Jason (Rafaela); 5 great-grandchildren as well as other relatives in Poland. She was predeceased by her husband in 1984 and son Joseph in 1997. Funeral Mass for the late Mrs. Stanislawa Polec will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 11, 2004 with friends and family gathering at St. Mary's Our Lady Queen of Poland Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. with Vigil Prayers being offered at 8:00 P.M. in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma.
