Ross , Arthur

It is with great sadness that the family of Arthur E Ross age 74 announces his passing after a courageous two and a half year battle with cancer. Arthur was born July 1, 1936 in Port Arthur, ON and lived all his life in the Thunder Bay area. From an early age, Arthur had a passion for farming and the forest industry. He was not afraid to take chances with business endeavors. Through dedication and perseverance he operated a successful trucking business right to the very end. One of his greatest joys was spending time his children and their families. He is survived by his life long partner in love and business, wife of 51 years Beverley (O’Keefe), his children Donna, Kenny (Loralee), Keith (Rose) and Sandra (Reg) Hitch; Grandchildren Tanya (Kory) MacLeod, Jennifer (Ken), Mandie (Nathan) Sims, Mathew (Jemmini) Torgerson, Janet, Justin (Kayla Warren), Adam Hitch, Kelsi Hitch, Liam Poppe and Brayden Hitch; Great Grandchildren Gabriel Ross, Alexis Torgerson and Mason and Myles MacLeod, also survived by sisters Marcella Mcloughlin, June Legros, Lil (Louis) Morassutti, Elaine (Mike) Wos, Isabelle Wiitala (Dan), Norma (Wayne) Chuchmuch and brothers Donald (Lillian) and Eddie. As well as brother-in-law Arnold O’Keefe (Carole) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Eugene and Hortense Ross, brother-in-law Tom Mcloughlin and sister-in-law Valeria O’Keefe. Cremation has taken place and internment will be at a later date. A celebration of Arthur’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd at 10:30 AM at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church 5045 Townline Road. Prayers will be offered Monday, November 1st at 7:30 PM with visitation beginning at 6:00 PM also at St. Augustine’s. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Northern Cancer Fund.
