Mrs. Genevieve Scarnati (nee: Marsonet) On Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Pioneer Ridge, Genevieve, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years with family by her side. Her journey began on January 24, 1922 in Fort William, ON, she was a lifetime resident of the city. She met her husband Emil at Can Car in 1941 where she worked as a cable splicer on the Hawker Hurricane aircrafts. Following his return from serving his country they were married on August 24, 1946. She was very artistic and creative as a youth. One of her frequent stories that she always spoke so proudly of was of winning an art contest. Genevieve worked for several years as a sales clerk at Eaton's Department Store. You could find her anywhere downstairs from the paint department to the candy shop. She was a lifetime member of the St. Anthony's R.C. Church Women's League and volunteered for many years at the 55 Plus Centre along with other local non-profits. Fondest memories of Mom (Nona) are those of her baking, preparing meals and her labour of love for keeping the house ready for company at a moments notice. She always had a smile for everyone she met, even as she struggled with her health. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years Emil, daughter Lois (Dennis) York, granddaughter Kim Pizzolato (Neil), great granddaughters: Ashlyn, Rylie and Chelsea, sisters-in-law: Rose Scarnati (Thunder Bay) and Lillian Scarnati (Winnipeg) along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Lynda Scarnati (2005), her parents and all siblings. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00 am in the Chapel of St. Andrew's R.C. Church, celebrated by Rev.
