Scherban, William 'Bill "

Mr. William "Bill " Scherban passed away in hospital on Monday, August 21, 2006. Bill was born July 23, 1925, in Rossburn, Manitoba and moved with his family to Port Arthur in 1936. During the 1940's he worked at Canada Car for the war effort, after which he worked at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool 4, until early retirement in 1984. Bill loved life's simpler things, family gatherings, tea with a friend, gardening and his painting. Bill is survived by sisters Helen Fikis and Anne Minekus, brother Andy, sister-in-law Dorothy and his many nieces, nephews and their children. He was Uncle Bill to all of us and we will miss him dearly. Bill was predeceased by parents Lena and Jacob, brother Victor, sister-in-law Lola, and brothers-in-law John and Martin. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 25th, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Canon John Jordan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. Should friends desire, donations to the charity of your choice in Bill's memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.
