Born January 24, 1940 in Toronto, Ontario, son of Walter and Rosa Scott, Douglas Walter Scott passed away suddenly on February 4, 2007 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Doug leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Margaret Ann (McCarthy), daughters Kathryn (Aaron Cunningham) and Jennifer (Edward Camargos), and their mother Diane Scott and beautiful grandchildren, Julian, Melissa, Hazel, Jolie, Sebastian and Lua and step-children, Colin and Chelsea Peet. Doug "The King" roared through life and lived it to the fullest and will be sorely missed by so many people touched by his incredible generosity, his rapier wit, his commitment to community and Northwestern Ontario, and his love of music. As a father, he loved and cherished his daughters but heaven help the potential suitors. In 1998, Doug was recognized by the Northern Ontario Business Awards Program as the Northern Ontario Business Executive of the Year. In 2004 Doug was the proud recipient of the Medal for Engineering Excellence from the Professional Engineers of Ontario recognizing 40 years of service. His passion for music started in high school and has carried through his whole life with his participation in multiple bands including: Thunder Bay City Band; Bottom of the Barrel; Good News Jazz Band to name a few. Doug was a rally enthusiast and raced cars over many continents as a member of the St. Catherine's Motor Club; the Thunder Bay Auto Club and the Thunder Bay Antique Car Club. He loved sailing, was a sports fan extraordinaire and had a soft spot for all domestic four-legged critters. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 2:00 pm in St. Paul's United Church, with Rev. Paul Walmsley officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the SARGENT FAMILY RECEPTION CENTRE (adjacent to the Funeral Home).
