Scott, Florence

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Florence (Flo) Scott, 86 of 100 River Road, Atikokan, Ontario on Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan, Ontario. Flo was born on January 10, 1916 in Ponas Lake, Saskatchewan to the late Frederick and MaryAnn Johnson (nee Severson). She was united in marriage to Wallace Scott, October 28, 1936 in Flin Flon, MB. They lived in Sherridon, MB, before finally moving to Atikokan in 1945. Flo worked for Steep Rock Iron Mines in the Purchasing Department from 1960 to 1979. She was a long time member of the Riverview United Church, the United Church Women, the Christian Women's Group, the hospital auxiliary and the Pioneer Centre where her favourite pastime was playing canasta with her family and friends. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens, was an excellent crocheter and knitter, a wonderful baker and in her younger years enjoyed bowling. She was predeceased by her husband Wallace Scott on February 19, 1973; one great granddaughter Marilyn Tyndall; three brothers, and three sisters. Florence is survived by her loving daughters, Dorothy and husband John Tyndall of Mountain Iron, MN and Beverely and husband Don Georgeson of Thunder Bay, ON; two grandchildren Scott Tyndall and wife Cheryl of St. Catharines, ON and Barbara and husband Chris Howarth of Dryden, ON; four great-grandchildren David and Robert Tyndall and John and Ashley Howarth; one brother-in-law Ralph Schmidt of Illinois; and by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Riverview United Church in Atikokan, Ontario with Reverend Gordon Waldie officiating. Interment will take place in Little Falls Cemetery in Atikokan, ON. Honorary pallbearers will be Laura Gienow, Tom and Ruth Pooley, Mattie Setter, Betty Lang, Owen Lindsay, Elsie Stone, Fin and Marie Warren and Helen and Bud Chesney.
