Mr. Lawrence Scott, age 53 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in St. Joseph's Hospital. Larry was born on May 17, 1955 in Fort William. He attended local schools graduating from FWCI. Larry later graduated from Confederation College, which was a very proud achievement for him, as he was both deaf and physically disabled. He had a long, protracted and painful struggle with Ankylosing Spondylitis, which eventually took his sight. He had a strong faith, and was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church until his health prevented him from attending. Larry's family was very important to him, he was lovingly cared for by his parents and supported by his nieces Tanya and Kerri. After the passing of his father, his mother Ida continued to care for him at home until she was no longer able, then taking the bus to St. Joseph's to see Larry everyday. No matter what limitation his illness placed on him he never complained and was always in good spirits. He is survived by his mother Ida, brother Tom, sister Dianne Sheparski (Gordon), nieces and nephews Kerri Wright (R.J. ), Tanya Horychuk (Chris), Sarah and Devin Sheparski, Arianne, Aaron and Jesse Scott; and great nephew Parker Wright-Turk; uncle Jim Scott (Lenny). He was predeceased by his father Daniel Mitchell Scott and brother Danny Cyril Scott. Funeral services for the late Mr. Lawrence Scott will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the WESTFORT CHAPEL 420 West Gore Street at James with Reverend Deborah Kraft of St. Paul's Anglican Church officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at Mountainview Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel.
