Sklazeski, Joseph
Mr. Joseph Stanley Sklazeski, age 80, passed away quietly in his home on March 26th 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was sadly predeceased by his son John in November 2004; Son in law Don MacSween; Sisters Patricia and Stella; Brothers Walter, John and Stan. Joe is survived by his wife Margaret; Children Dan (Cheryl) of Sechelt B.C. , Pat of Courteney B.C. , Maggie of Toronto, Joe (Paula), Jim (Debbie), Denis and Mary (Garry) of Drayton Valley, Alberta; Sister in laws May Gallacher and Gladys Sklazeski. "Papa Joe" will be sadly missed by his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Born in Fort William on March 14th 1925, Joe married Margaret on April 13th, 1946 while overseas in active duty WWII. Two weeks prior to his death, Joe celebrated his 80th birthday surrounded by family, close friends and his beloved wife Margaret. With the loving support of his daughters and close family, Joe selflessly dedicated his time attending to Margaret who suffers from Alzheimer's. Joe (Skids) was a master mechanic who worked hard all of his life to provide for his large family. He was never idle and carried his strong work ethic into his retirement. Summers were spent tending to his home, caring for his beautiful flowers and tinkering in his garage. Joe was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Polish Veterans Branch #149. A service followed by a luncheon will be held on Friday, April 1st at 11:00 am at the Polish Legion, 730 Simpson Street (Upstairs). Should friends desire, donations can be made to Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Center in memory of Joseph Sklazeski.
