Stewart, Helen
1926 - 2005Helen lived a long life devoted to her family and friendsWith deep sadness and regret, we announce the peaceful passing of our sister, aunt and friend, Helen Stewart (Chenier) on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, with her family by her side. She was born on March 1, 1926 in St. Boniface, Manitoba to Alexander and Bernadette Chenier, the second youngest of 10 children. When her father moved to Huronian as a Section Foreman on the CNR, Helen received her early education in the school car. Later when the family moved to Thunder Bay, she graduated from St. Patrick's High School. She worked at various offices, even opening up her own beauty shop. Helen met her husband Al Stewart in 1949 and they married and moved to Toronto where Al worked for a pharmaceutical company and Helen worked for Imperial Oil. After her retirement, she returned to Thunder Bay in 1994. Helen had an unabashed zest for life, which was contagious for those around her. She loved a good joke, game of cards and trips to the casino with Charmaine and her coffee club. Her life was filled with all manner of family events. Her shopping trips were legendary and she enjoyed her daily visits with her sister Denise to Intercity, where she would inevitably add to her vast collection of still ticketed purchases. Helen was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Bernadette, husband Al Stewart, brothers Eugene and Denis, Anthony, Joseph, sisters Gertrude, Juliette, Margarite, Laura, Cecile, Irene, Roberta and Simone. Helen was much loved by her many nieces and nephews who would always include her in their own lives. She will be sorely missed by her many family and friends. Good bye Auntie Helen, we will be sure to toast you with a beer! Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 10:00 am in St. Dominic's Church celebrated by Rev. Daniel Lapolla c.s.
