Stokes, Inez May
Mrs. Inez May Stokes, a resident of 316 Hodder Avenue, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital - McKellar on Tuesday, July 23, 2002. Born in Port Arthur, she was a lifetime resident. Inez was employed at Zellers Store #22 as a clerk and latterly, by the Northwest Regional Centre at the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital as an RNA and Councillor for eleven and one half years, retiring due to health reasons. Inez enjoyed the time spent at her summer cottage at Crystal Beach, and the many hours fishing with Ray on Lake Superior. Her favourite pastimes were baking, crocheting, gardening, helping others and especially, volunteering at Dawson Court and St. Stephen The Martyr Anglican Church, of which she was a member.Inez is survived by two daughters: Bev (Don) Davies and Kathy (Jim) Wainwright, both of Thunder Bay; grandson Dan Pogue of Medicine Hat, AB (enroute); step-grandsons Robert Wainwright of Red Deer, AB and Terry Wainwright of Regina, Sask. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Ethel Gehl; husband Ray in 1986; two sisters: Audrey in 1971 and Verna in infancy.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, officiated by Canon John Jordan. Interment to take place in the Family Plot, Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Inez's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation of Canada, Thunder Bay Support Group or to the charity of your choice.
