TAYLORMrs. Ailie Anita Taylor, age 88 years, a resident of Pioneer Ridge, formerly of McKibbon Street, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital - McKellar on Monday, April 9, 2001 following a lengthy illness.Born in Port Arthur, she was a lifetime resident. Ailie attended North Bay Normal School where she received her teaching certificate. A dedicated teacher, she taught with the Lakehead Board of Education atShuniah and Cornwall Public Schools for over thirty-five years, retiring in 1972. Ailie was a member of the Retired Teachers of Ontario and in her earlier years, was very active with the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a lover of art, music, reading travel - and especially enjoyed time spent with her great-niece and nephew.Ailie is survived by two sisters Inez Johnson of Thunder Bay and Selena Layne of Langley, BC; niece Marilyn (John) Husiak and their children Kyle and Laura; nephew Tom (Eileen) Kenrik and their children of Montreal; niece Lorraine (Michael) Heney and their children all of Thunder Bay. Also surviving are numerous other relatives in Sweden and Finland.Ailie was predeceased by her parents Charles and Helena; husband James (Jim) in 1986; brother Carl Hedman; two sisters Elna Kenrick and Helen in infancy.Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Matthew Diegel of Immanuel Lutheran Church. A Reception will take place in the Harbourview Reception Hall followed by interment in the Family Plot, Riverside Cemetery.If friends so desire, donations may be made in Ailie's memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to Pioneer Ridge.
